Environmental Overview
Because Cooper Bussmann conducts business around the world, we've committed ourselves to meeting the various governmental mandates now in effect or under consideration in North America, Europe and Asia for restricting or eliminating hazardous substances.
Our current efforts deal specifically with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directives. These two Directives deal primarily with consumer electrical and electronic equipment sold into the European Union. Both entered into force on February 13, 2003 with their publication in the Official Journal of the European Union and are in effect as of July 1, 2006.
Cooper Bussmann is also actively involved in industry and association groups to create uniform standards for reducing the use of hazardous substances. These include:
IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission
NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturer's Association)
